Before you start
Your workspace admin has given your role access to Playable MCP.
You know your Playable login.
You have the Playable MCP address:
https://mcp.playable.com
There are no API keys or passwords to copy. You sign in with your normal Playable login, and the AI tool gets access only to what your Playable user can do.
Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app)
Pro and Max plans
In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors.
Click Add custom connector.
Enter the name Playable and the URL
https://mcp.playable.com. Leave the advanced settings empty.Click Add, then Connect.
Sign in and approve the connection.
Team and Enterprise plans
First, an owner of your Claude organization adds Playable once for everyone:
Go to Organization settings → Connectors.
Add a custom connector with the name Playable and the URL
https://mcp.playable.com.
Then each member connects their own Playable user:
Go to Customize → Connectors.
Find Playable and click Connect.
Sign in and approve the connection.
Connectors you set up on claude.ai also work in the Claude desktop and mobile apps.
ChatGPT
In ChatGPT, custom connectors are added through developer mode. Developer mode is available on the Plus and Pro plans, and on Business and Enterprise plans when your workspace admin allows it.
Go to Settings → Apps and turn on Developer mode under the advanced settings. On a Business or Enterprise plan, your admin may need to turn this on for the workspace first.
Create a new app. Name it Playable, enter the URL
https://mcp.playable.com, and choose OAuth as the authentication method.Save, and sign in and approve the connection.
In a chat, click + and select Playable under Developer mode to use it.
ChatGPT asks you to confirm before the assistant makes a change in Playable. The built-in "Build Playable Campaign" prompt isn't available in ChatGPT. The Playable skills can't be installed there either, but you can paste their content into a chat or project.
Claude Code
Run this command in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http playable https://mcp.playable.com
Then start Claude Code, type /mcp, select playable and choose to authenticate. Your browser opens so you can sign in and approve.
Other AI tools
Playable MCP currently works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini Enterprise and Claude Code. Other AI tools may not be able to sign in yet. If there's a tool you'd like to use, let us know.
Sign in and approve
When you click Connect, a browser window opens with Playable.
Sign in with your own Playable user. If you're already signed in to Playable, you skip this step.
Check the approval screen. It says which AI tool is asking for access, and under Authorizing as which Playable user and workspace it will act as. Below that, it lists what the tool will be able to do, grouped the same way as the MCP permissions on your role. Click a group to see the individual actions.
Click Authorize followed by the tool's name (for example Authorize Claude) to connect, or Cancel if something looks wrong.
The window closes and you're back in your AI tool, ready to go.
If you work in more than one Playable workspace, the connection is tied to the user you signed in with. To work in another workspace, disconnect and connect again as the user for that workspace.
Try it out
Start a new chat and ask:
List my five most recent Playable campaigns.
If the assistant answers with your campaigns, you're all set. Next, read Tips and example prompts.
Disconnect
To disconnect an AI tool:
In Playable, click your user avatar and choose OAuth sessions in the User overview panel.
Find the tool in the list and click Revoke, then confirm.
This removes the tool's access straight away. It can only connect again if you sign in and approve it again.
You can also remove the connector in your AI tool's settings.
