Purpose of Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to user accounts by requiring a second form of verification beyond just a password. Initially, enabling 2FA on our platform will be optional, though encouraged for all users to enhance security.

Enabling 2FA

  1. Prompt to set up 2FA:
When logging into the platform, users will see a prompt to enable 2FA. Users can choose from a variety of 2FA methods compatible with popular authentication apps, such as Apple Keychain, Microsoft Authenticator, Okta, etc.

  2. Setting up 2FA:

    • Step 1: Choose a 2FA method and open the corresponding authentication app.

    • Step 2: Scan the QR code displayed on the platform with the app.

    • Step 3: Enter the validation code generated by the authentication app into the platform.

    • Step 4: Receive confirmation on the platform that 2FA has been successfully set up.

  3. Receiving recovery codes:
After setting up 2FA, users will receive three recovery codes. These codes are one-time-use codes that allow users to regain access to their account if they lose access to their authentication app. It is crucial that users store these codes securely (e.g., in a password manager) and do not share them with anyone.

Logging in with 2FA

Once 2FA is enabled, users will be required to authenticate via their chosen authentication app each time they log in. Follow these steps:

Note: Users must use the same authentication method they initially set up for 2FA. If the user chooses a different app, they will need to reset their 2FA configuration.

  1. Log In Prompt: After entering their username and password, users will be prompted to complete the 2FA verification.

  2. Access Authentication Code: Open the authentication app selected during setup (e.g., Apple Keychain, Microsoft Authenticator). Locate the code generated for Playable in the app.

  3. Enter Code: Enter the authentication code displayed in the app into the platform’s login field and submit to complete login.
