General

Screen size

Topscroll is a responsive format that is designed to adapt across screen sizes.

To ensure your ad is readable across most leading desktop screen sizes, we advice that you optimize your design (including safe zones) for 1366x768px, which is one of the most common screen sizes.

Safe zones and exclusion zones

In Topscroll ads formats, an arrow button is always placed at the bottom-center of the ad, measuring 50px wide and 120px tall. This area is an exclusion zone and you should avoid placing important elements like text, logos, or CTAs in this area.

Safe zones, on the contrary marks the area where important elements—such as text, logos, buttons, or calls to action (CTAs)—should be placed to avoid being cut off.

Strategic content placement

Since the exclusion zone takes up 120px space in the middle of the screen to allow for the animated arrow button, we suggest placing key content—like logos, text, or CTAs—on either side of the banner.

This will allow you to exploit as much of the available space in the banner as possible.

The above image example emphasizes the importance of keeping critical content like logos, text, and call-to-action button away from the exclusion zone. The recommended safe zones are highlighted on the sides.

On a 1366x768px screen size, the usable space for your design is approximately 450px.

If you want to center your design, keep in mind that the usable space for key content is reduced to avoid button interference. Centering the content reduces the available safe zone to 350 pixels or less.

Taking the above guidelines into consideration can contribute to ensure a seamless user experience across various screen sizes. Summing up, we advice you always keep the following in mind when building responsive Playable ads:

  • Background size: Use a background size of 2560x1440px (16:9) for optimal quality across different screen resolutions.

  • Screen size: Optimize designs for 1366x768px, one of the most common desktop resolutions.

  • Safe Zones & Exclusion Zones: Avoid placing important elements (text, logos, CTAs) in the bottom-center exclusion zone. Keep key content in the safe zones on either side of the banner.
