Changing the length of time before your campaign shows an inactivity popover

After the campaign URL has been open for 1 hour with no activity, the session will expire. The player will see an overlay and will have to refresh the page in order to access the game.

Why does the session expire?

The inactivity functionality is meant to keep people from having the game open for too long.

If players have the campaign open for days (or more), they won't see any edits or fixes you make to the campaign. By allowing the session to expire, you help ensure that your statistics are accurate and prevent players from being able access parts of the game they shouldn't be able to (e.g. date-controlled content).

The inactivity overlay ensures the campaign is refreshed periodically, so the player is sure to see the most up-to-date and correct information.

Editing the inactivity settings

You can edit the settings for this overlay in the backend under the Advanced tab.

Here you can edit the content of the message (text and graphics). If you want the link at the bottom of the message to direct players to another URL instead of refreshing the campaign, you can enter that other URL here.

Inactivity duration

You can change how much time has to pass before the campaign session expires and the overlay shows.

This can be as little as 1 minute or can be disabled completely. We don't recommend removing the limit entirely, as the session expiration serves a purpose (as described above).

You can also enable automatic redirect or refresh. This will either refresh the page or redirect to another URL as soon as the campaign session expires. By enabling automatic refresh, you can ensure that your players never see the inactivity overlay but also see the most recent version of a campaign.
