Mapp Marketing Cloud allows you to store participant data and manage marketing communication through channels such as email, SMS, and more. Through our built-in integration, you can automate the data transfer between Playable and Mapp Marketing Cloud.

In this article, we'll explore the process of configuring the Mapp Marketing Cloud integration in the platform. We will cover how to:

Add the Mapp Marketing Cloud integration to your campaign

To find the integration, go into the 'Integrations' tab on your campaign and select 'Add Integration.' In the following menu, select 'Email Provider' and scroll through the list until you find the Mapp Marketing Cloud option. Clicking it will start the setup process.

Mapp Marketing Cloud connects to Playable through a URL, Username, and Password. This means that, if you are adding the integration for the first time, you will need to insert this information from your Mapp Marketing Cloud account.

Here, you will also select the opt-in type for the integration. This determines the level of verification required before the contact is added to the group in Mapp Marketing Cloud. The available opt-in types are:

  • Opt-in: The contact is added to the group without receiving a notification.

  • Confirmed Opt-in: The contact receives an email with a welcome message when they are added to the group.

  • Double Opt-in: The contact receives an invitation to join via email which they must accept before being added to the group.

If you have previously set up a Mapp Marketing Cloud integration in Playable, you can reuse the configuration.

In order to be able to use the Mapp Marketing Cloud integration, you will need an API (or Hybrid) user account in Mapp Marketing Cloud. If you don't have one of these already, or you need more information on where to find the necessary credentials, we recommend taking a look at Mapp Marketing Cloud's API documentation.

Configure the Mapp Marketing Cloud integration

Once your API credentials have been added, you can start configuring what data should be sent from Playable to Mapp Marketing Cloud. The first section is 'General integration settings.' Here, you can define what to do with duplicates by setting whether the users information should be updated or if a new contact should be created.

Select trigger

After having set up the general integration settings, you will select which event should trigger the integration and thereby add the subscriber to your list:

The triggers available depend on the placement of your registration form(s) and whether you have included prizes in the campaign.

Trigger name

Event that triggers data transfer

Primary registration form submitted

Data is sent every time the primary registration form (containing the email field) is submitted

Game completed

Data is sent as soon as the game status is known (winner or loser), only if the primary registration form has already been submitted. Note: this option is only available if registration form is placed BEFORE the game.

Prize won

Data is sent when a regular prize has a winner assigned (whether or not the game has been completed)

Bulk prize won

Data is sent when a bulk prize has a winner assigned (whether or not the game has been completed)

Add additional conditions

It is possible to add additional conditions to the trigger. Together with the trigger, these must be met in order for the data to be transferred.

  • Using the form field option you can define a specific field in the registration form(s) that must be filled out.

  • With the advanced option you have the option to set up a data flow based on more complex conditions. For example, the trigger could be based on performance in the game or a specific selection or data input in the registration form.

Group ID & Identifier

After selecting a trigger and potentially additional conditions, you will need to add the Group ID. This decides which group in Mapp Marketing Cloud the contact should be subscribed to.

You will also select the identificer for the contact. This indicates which information should be used to reference the contact once they are added to Mapp Marketing Cloud. For more information on the contact identifier, see Mapp Marketing Cloud's documentation.

Map data fields

You will "map" each field from your campaign to a field in your list in Mapp Marketing Cloud using drop-down menus. This drop-down is how you select where in Mapp Marketing Cloud the data should be sent.

For each data point, you can select an existing field from Mapp Marketing Cloud to parse the data to. If the field does not exist in Mapp Marketing Cloud, you will not be able to push data to it. Therefore, you may have to add more fields to your list or form in Mapp Marketing Cloud before you're able to set up the integration fully.

At the bottom of this section, you can add static information. This can be useful if you want to track something that is true for every player but is not collected in the campaign automatically. For example, you can use static information if you want to track Playable as the subscriber's "source" in your subscription list.

Once you enter a static value, you can map the field as you would with any other data field. Here, you can also add an email to be notified when an error occurs, so that you will know instantly if something has gone wrong with the data transfer.

Test the Mapp Marketing Cloud integration

We always advise that you test the integration by going through the actual campaign. The testing process will depend on what your triggers are, but we suggest that you test by submitting the registration form(s) and playing through the game.

In the activity tab, you will be able to check if the data has successfully been transferred to Mapp Marketing Cloud. You can then double check that the data has been transferred to the correct list and fields in Mapp Marketing Cloud.
