How to setup the Dotdigital integration in Playable

The Dotdigital integration on the Playable platform allows customers to connect their Playable campaigns with their Dotdigital accounts. This integration enables transfer automation of user data and engagement metrics from Playable's gamification campaigns to Dotdigital, providing valuable insights and allowing further personalization and segmentation of marketing efforts within Dotdigital.

Add the Dotdigital Integration

  • Navigate to the "Integrations" tab within a campaign.

  • Press "Add integration" and choose "Email providers"

  • Select "Dotdigital" from the list of available integrations.

General Integration Settings:

Dotdigital connects to Playable through an user and password credentials. This means that, if you are adding the integration for the first time, you will need to insert these credentials from your Dotdigital account.

  • User: Enter the Dotdigital API user credentials.

  • Password: Enter the associated API password.

  • Opt-in Type: Choose whether to collect single, double or verified double opt-in preferences.

Configure the Dotdigital integration

  1. Integration Setup:

    • Subscription List: Select or manually enter the list ID where you wish to store contacts in Dotdigital.

    • Trigger: Define when you want the data to be transferred to Dotdigital (e.g., upon primary registration form submission, Game completed etc.).

    • Additional Options: Enable options such as updating contacts if they already exist, send only non-empty fields, limiting registration to once per user, and use typecast data values if needed.

  2. Mapping Fields:

    • For each mapping field, you can select a field from Dotdigital to transfer the data to.

Transferring data to several lists

If you want to transfer data to several lists in Dotdigital, you need to add an additional Dotdigital integration to the campaign. If needed, you can use the copy function to duplicate the integration under the integration tab.

Marketing Preferences

The integration allows the option of opt-in preferences, which can be set as single, double or verified double opt-in during the configuration. This ensures that marketing consent data is appropriately synchronized with Dotdigital, enabling compliance with GDPR and other data privacy regulations.

Testing

Before going live with your campaign, we encourage you to test the Dotdigital integration.

To test the integration, you can play the game through the demo url. Then, check if the data has been transferred to Dotdigital under the Activity > Registration tab.

* Remember that for the integration to work properly you must go through the entire flow. Start at the presentation page and make sure to both play the game and submit a registration.
